Change your cape in the Minecraft Launcher
- Open the Minecraft Launcher and select Minecraft: Java Edition.
- Click the Skins tab.
- Edit your current skin (or create a new one) and choose a cape from the list of capes on your account.
- Save. The next time you join a world or server, the new cape is used.
Toggle your cape in game
Go to Options → Skin Customization and make sure Cape is set to ON. This only shows or hides your cape; picking which cape is done in the launcher.
Your cape on an elytra
On Java Edition, wearing an elytra shows your cape's design on the wings. Rare capes look especially good in flight, which is why many players pick a cape with flight in mind. You can preview this on every cape page: switch the 3D viewer to Elytra mode.
Cape not showing?
- Restart the launcher after redeeming a new cape.
- Check Skin Customization → Cape is on.
- Some modded clients or resource packs replace capes. Try vanilla to confirm.
- Make sure you redeemed the code on the same Microsoft account you play on.
