The Aurora Cape is an official Minecraft cape for Java and Bedrock (origin: Promotion starting September 29, 2026). This guide covers where it came from, how rare it is, what it looks like on a real skin and exactly how to get the Aurora Cape today.
Where the Aurora Cape comes from
The Aurora Cape was distributed from September 29, 2026. Its soft rainbow gradient, like the northern lights, makes it one of the most colourful capes in the game.
It is very affordable and a popular way to get an official cape for the first time.
What the Aurora Cape looks like
A soft rainbow gradient inspired by the northern lights. It is one of the most colourful capes in the game and it looks great in daylight and in screenshots.
You can spin the 3D model at the top of this page, switch between walking and elytra flight, and type your own Minecraft username to see the Aurora Cape on your skin before you buy.
Looks best with: Pastel skins, light outfits and anything white or grey that lets the colours shine.
How rare is the Aurora Cape?
It is a recent, widely distributed cape, so it is very affordable and sits in our Stone tier.
Rarity on GetCape is shown with six tiers: Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite and Dragon, from most common to rarest. Prices follow supply: when unused codes for a cape run low, they cost more to source.
How to get the Aurora Cape in 2026
The original promotion has ended, so you cannot earn the Aurora Cape from Mojang any more. The only way to add it to your account now is an unused official code. Every code we sell is checked before it is listed and is delivered instantly after payment, with a replace-or-refund guarantee.
How to redeem the Aurora Cape code
- Go to minecraft.net/redeem and sign in with the Microsoft account you play on.
- Paste the Aurora Cape code from your GetCape order page or email and confirm.
- Java Edition: open the launcher, go to Skins and pick the cape, or in game go to Options → Skin Customization → Cape.
- Bedrock Edition: open the Dressing Room, then Capes, and equip it.
The cape is tied to your Microsoft account permanently, so it follows you to every device. See our full guide to redeeming cape codes if anything goes wrong.
Is the Aurora Cape worth it?
It is a great pick for players who want a colourful first cape for the lowest price. Capes are purely cosmetic, so you are paying for style and rarity, not an in-game advantage, and once redeemed it is yours forever.
