The Experience Cape is an official Minecraft cape for Java and Bedrock (origin: Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue (2024)). This guide covers where it came from, how rare it is, what it looks like on a real skin and exactly how to get the Experience Cape today.
Where the Experience Cape comes from
The Experience Cape comes from Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue, the official real-world Minecraft event where fans team up to rescue villagers. It was given to attendees and arrived in game in October 2024 (Bedrock first, Java a few days later).
Because it was tied to an in-person event, far fewer players own it than online drop capes, which is why it is one of the most asked-about capes on servers. The design shows a villager rescue theme on a dark backdrop that reads clearly from behind in third person.
What the Experience Cape looks like
The Experience Cape uses a dark backdrop with a villager rescue motif in greens and warm skin tones. It is one of the few capes that tells a little story on its own, and the darker base keeps it readable from behind in third person, in lobbies and on PvP servers.
You can spin the 3D model at the top of this page, switch between walking and elytra flight, and type your own Minecraft username to see the Experience Cape on your skin before you buy.
Looks best with: Darker skins, explorer and adventurer outfits, and anything with green or teal accents.
How rare is the Experience Cape?
Because it was tied to an in-person event, the number of owners is small compared with online drops. Codes that were never redeemed are limited and do not come back once they are used, so it sits in our Diamond tier.
Rarity on GetCape is shown with six tiers: Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite and Dragon, from most common to rarest. Prices follow supply: when unused codes for a cape run low, they cost more to source.
How to get the Experience Cape in 2026
The original promotion has ended, so you cannot earn the Experience Cape from Mojang any more. The only way to add it to your account now is an unused official code. Every code we sell is checked before it is listed and is delivered instantly after payment, with a replace-or-refund guarantee.

How to redeem the Experience Cape code
- Go to minecraft.net/redeem and sign in with the Microsoft account you play on.
- Paste the Experience Cape code from your GetCape order page or email and confirm.
- Java Edition: open the launcher, go to Skins and pick the cape, or in game go to Options → Skin Customization → Cape.
- Bedrock Edition: open the Dressing Room, then Capes, and equip it.
The cape is tied to your Microsoft account permanently, so it follows you to every device. See our full guide to redeeming cape codes if anything goes wrong.
Is the Experience Cape worth it?
It is a great pick for players who want something rare that is not one of the usual Twitch or TikTok capes, and collectors who want a piece of a real-world Minecraft event on their account. Capes are purely cosmetic, so you are paying for style and rarity, not an in-game advantage, and once redeemed it is yours forever.

How do I get the Experience Cape in 2026?
The original promotion has ended, so the only way left is an unused code. Buy one on the Experience Cape page, redeem it at minecraft.net/redeem and it is yours for good.
Can I preview the Experience Cape before buying?
Yes. Use the 3D try-on at the top of this guide, or type your Minecraft username to see the Experience Cape on your own skin.
How fast is the Experience Cape code delivered?
